The parish of Boliqueime in the municipality of Loulé is situated between the A22 motorway and the EN125. Boliqueime is the seat of a parish, with 42 square kilometres of extension, and more than 6.000 inhabitants. The toponym "Boliqueime" derives from the Italian "bulicame" which means "thermal spring", the creation of this village being linked to the Genovese, Venetians and Sicilians who, in the thirteenth, fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, commanded the Algarve coast for tuna and whale fishing and went to Boliqueime to carry the indispensable drinking water, Fonte de Boliqueime. Today the commercial part of the village lies directly at the EN125 and is known as Fonte de Boliqueime.
The nucleus of the village is an elevated site with houses grouped around the church. Boliqueime offers good infrastructure and convenient location with easy and quick access to Albufeira and Vilamoura. During the last years, more and more foreigners chose the area of Boliqueime as their residence.
The two most exclusive areas, Zambujal and Malhadais, are located on top of the hill offering a splendid view to the sea.

SÃO BRÁS DE ALPORTEL
São Bras de Alportel was once the heart of Portugal's cork industry and as such is snuggled in an area dotted with cork and pine trees. Although the industry has now relocated, the town's former wealth is still noticeable in the architecture of its residential and commercial buildings. Alongside the main town square with shops and restaurants, there are numerous shops, bars and restaurants scattered throughout the town. From the 17th century, São Brás became the summer residence of the bishops of the Algarve due to its mild climate. The episcopal palace, built in the 17th and 18th centuries to protect against the heat of summer, was changed constantly in the following centuries. Today, only part of the main building and the Baroque fountain are preserved. In the Serra de Caldeirão, north of Alportel, there are large natural forests - some owned by the municipality, where cork oaks grow up without human intervention. The cork bark harvested here is considered to be the best in the world and the product of agricultural cork plantations far superior. Therefore, the cork is preferably used for the production of bottle corks for quality wines and champagne. Property around São Bras de Alportel is a mix of traditionally humble Algarvian Quintas, grander, former merchant houses and some contemporary additions in the outskirts of town. Real estate comes not only in many diverse styles but also in various price ranges with São Bras apartments and Quintas within the cheaper price brackets. Moncarapacho is located close to Fuseta and is the easternmost municipality found in the district of Olhão.
The centre, where whitewashed houses are sitting around the church, is still largely untouched by tourism. The church square invites to linger and chill. Attached to the Santo Cristo chapel there is a small museum, the "Museu Paroquial" with archaeological finds and utensils from the surrounding area. There is a cheerful market every first Sunday of the month on the large car park at the entrance to the village. During Carnival time, Moncarapacho comes to life. The olive plantation and oil mill "Lagar da Horta Félix” is worthwhile a visit, which owns the oldest trees of over a millennium.
