The Algarve, a sun-kissed gem in Portugal, has once again secured its place on the global stage by being named the Best Beach Destination in the World at the prestigious World Travel Awards. This incredible recognition marks the third consecutive time the region has received this honor, showcasing its natural beauty and rich experiences that captivate travelers from around the globe.
In a fiercely competitive field of 23 nominees, the Algarve triumphed over some of the most renowned beach destinations, including the Maldives, Cancún, Seychelles, the Philippines, and Zanzibar. The award was presented on November 24th during a glamorous ceremony held in Madeira, an occasion celebrated for highlighting the best in tourism and travel. Often referred to as the Oscars of Tourism, the World Travel Awards rely on votes from top industry leaders who recognize excellence across various categories.
What sets the Algarve apart? The region boasts an impressive 200 kilometers of diverse coastline, where visitors can find everything from expansive golden beaches to secluded coves framed by stunning cliffs. This enchanting landscape is complemented by an array of activities suited for all preferences—whether one seeks relaxation on sun-drenched sands, thrilling water sports like surfing and diving, or serene walks along picturesque trails.

Notably, 13 beaches were classified as Zero Pollution beaches, reflecting the region’s commitment to sustainability and conservation.
