In recent developments, the Agency for Integration, Migration, and Asylum (AIMA, I.P.) has introduced significant changes to the application process for the Golden Visa program, also known as the Residence Authorization through Investment (ARI). With these updates, the process is set to become much more streamlined, ensuring that both investors and their families can navigate the journey toward residency with greater ease and efficiency.
A New Era of Simplified Processes
The formation of AIMA, I.P. marks a turning point in how residence authorization processes are analyzed and managed. One of the primary goals of this agency is to simplify the administrative processes related to various residency permits, including the Golden Visa.
As of late 2024, important communications have been issued to all investors and their legal representatives concerning procedural changes. The modifications are intended to prioritize older residence permit applications while optimizing the overall user experience for new applicants.
Resubmitting Applications: What You Need to Know
Investors are now required to resubmit their basic documentation for the Golden Visa application online. This resubmission ensures that all applications are up-to-date and comply with the new requirements. Additionally, it is crucial to rectify any formalities or irregularities that may have existed in previous applications.
Once the necessary legal documentation has been submitted—validated properly and in chronological order—AIMA, I.P. will arrange an appointment for the investor and their family members to visit one of the agency’s offices for biometric data collection.
Key Changes to Payment and Processing Times
Another notable change involves the payment process for the issuance of Golden Visa cards. Payments will now need to be made in person, which differs from the online procedures that were previously in place. This modification allows for a more direct interaction between the agency and the investor.
In an effort to enhance efficiency, AIMA, I.P. pledges to make decisions regarding applications within a maximum of 90 days from the date of document submission. This commitment reflects the agency’s dedication to improving the speed and reliability of the Golden Visa process.
Biometric Data Collection and Card Validity
Biometric consultations will begin on January 15, 2025.
